Historical: Gail is the grand daughter of Tjawina Porter Nampitjinpa who is a Senior artist from the community of Wanon, W.A. Her aunties are also very well known artists Nyurapayia Nampitjinpa (aka Mrs. Bennett) and Esther Giles Nampitjinpa. Gail lives between the communities of Wanan & Warakuna, She travels regularly to Alice Springs to visit family.

Painting: Gail paints traditional Tingari designs which depict the travelling of the mythological creation ancestors known as the Tingari. In creation time or ‘Dream Time’ the Tingari travelled the earth & performed ceremonies which created the physical landscape & all that lived within it. The circles in Gails paintings represent the ceremonial sites and the lines linking the circles represent the travelling between these sites.
